To serve health plan members and other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program's needs. Under supervision is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nursing care activities with other health care disciplines.
Essential Functions:
Clinical Activities
Assess, implement plan of care, outcomes, safe medication administration.
Take evening and weekend call, including holidays per union contract. Take after hours call.
Assist with all procedures and care of patients in the CVPR, including but not limited to Tees, cardio versions, etc.
Safely provide Procedural sedation.
Able to recognize cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
Care for specialized equipment.
Demonstrate critical thinking and sound clinical judgment.
Leadership/Coordination Activities
Precept and orient students or new employees
Display teamwork.
Lifting and carrying
Able to lift and carry at least 60 pounds unassisted and carry them for a distance of 50 feet.
May assist in the movement of patients and/or equipment whose weight may range from 100 to 300 pounds.
Bending: able to bend up to 60 times per shift, at both the waist and knees
Walking: able to stand and/or walk for entire shift. Able to walk a distance of three to five miles during course of a shift
Able to push/pull weights 100 to 300 pounds with assistance
Standing: able to stand six to eight hours per shift
Maintains safety in use of all equipment
Complies with all hospital safety policies and procedures
Documents care according to policy and procedure
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum Required Experience, Knowledge, License, Certification, Skills and Abilities
Minimum of two years critical care, PCU, ICU, telemetry or cardiac surgery pre-op or post-op recovery experience
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing: Bachelor's degree preferred
Competent in Procedural Sedation
Current RN License upon hire
Current BLS w/AED certification
Current ACLS
Competent in Procedural Sedation
Pre Procedure Management
Post Procedure Management
Femoral Arterial site Management including Sheath pulls and closure devices
Hem dynamics/Monitoring; including waveform interpretation
Procedural sedation, including critical care needs
Administration, preparation, and calculation of critical care and cardiac medications, multiple drips and cardiac drips
Able to perform point of care testing including ACT, ABGs, saturations & glucose testing etc.
Cardio version, Arterial Lines, Ate place, PHS Prep
Intra Aortic Balloon Pump Management
Ventilator management and assistance
Temporary & Permanent Pacemaker/Defibrillator Management
EKG Interpretation
Cardiac rhythm interpretation and Arrhythmia recognition
Thrombolytic Therapy Management
Patient teaching on cardiovascular procedures

Recent Cardiac Cath Lab Intervention experience
Recent Post Interventional Cardiac Procedure experience
Arterial and venous sheath pulling experience
